The Art of Perspective- What I Learned From Being Stubborn

Sometimes you have to take a stand. It may not be a popular one. People may disagree with you. Being a conformist is comfortable and comes with little risk. But being a disruptor can be productive! I’m not talking about arguing or being contrarian for no reason, but rather, choosing to bring forth another perspective, option, or potential. Look at Elon Musk. Whether you love or hate him, it’s clear that he is a disruptor. He thinks big. From a change perspective, he is making things happen. In multiple industries.
Do I want to be the next version of Elon Musk? Nope. I don’t need my appliances to be smarter than me (I read Isaac Asimov’s books and can imagine a day when machines will control humans). But I do want to think that way. What else? What could be? What are the possibilities? For the eternal optimist, hope and confidence in the future abound. Another great quote,
“You will never achieve what you are capable of if you are too attached to things you’re supposed to let go of.”
Not sure who said it, but they were smart, too.
Now, a word of caution. Just because you have a different opinion, doesn’t mean you are right. Don’t be caught in a fixed mindset by blindly sticking to your guns. This isn’t the Alamo. You need to be open to others’ ideas, too.
Otherwise, you’re just being a stubborn mule.
